This morning I ran my first interval workout in a long long time. To be honest I was a little afraid that I wouldn’t be able to keep the pace I had set for myself. It’s still too early in my come back to the sport of running for me to mentally deal with failure. Enough about my insecurities, the workout called for 4×800m at 5k pace with 400m active recovery.

I managed to run 5:15 pace for the intervals and 7:30 pace for the recovery. As usual with intervals the first one felt great, the second one was a little worrying, the third one was a bit of a struggle, and by the fourth the fact that it was almost over was enough to allow me to hang on.

I managed to take on an additional 5 miles with my warmup, cooldown, and run with Sally.
